Reflecting Owner's Opinions from Design Stage and Supporting CCTV Installation to Address Security Concerns After Fence Removal
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jongno-gu (District Mayor Kim Young-jong) is promoting the '2020 Green Parking Project' to solve parking problems on residential side streets and expand urban green spaces to create a healthy city.
The project aims to secure parking lots in residential areas. The targets include houses (detached, multi-family, and multi-unit residences) and neighborhood living facilities where additional parking spaces can be created by demolishing fences and gates, aside from legally mandated parking lots.
Parking functions must be maintained for five years after construction completion, and 9 million KRW will be supported per parking space. An additional 1.5 million KRW will be provided for each extra parking space thereafter.
Additionally, construction costs will be flexibly supported depending on geographical conditions such as hilly areas and houses with steep slopes, allowing the installation of open-type fences as long as parking functions are maintained. The defect repair period for the Green Parking Project is two years after completion, after which homeowners are responsible for any defects.
The district reflects the opinions of homeowners as much as possible from the design stage to encourage resident participation and increase satisfaction.
To address security concerns after fence demolition, support for ‘unmanned self-security systems (CCTV)’ will be provided within the project budget.
Those wishing to participate in the Green Parking Project can apply after consulting with the Parking Management Division by phone, visiting in person (5th floor, Main Building, Jongno-gu Office, 43 Sambong-ro, Jongno-gu), or through the district office website.
Furthermore, the district will carry out the ‘Vacant Land Parking Lot Creation Project’ to expand parking spaces by utilizing abandoned small plots or vacant lots within residential areas.
The target is vacant land that can maintain parking functions for at least one year after parking lot creation. Up to 2.4 million KRW per parking space will be supported, and if the number of spaces exceeds 20, up to 1.2 million KRW per space will be provided. Prior to implementation, thorough consultations with the landowners will be conducted, and all construction including waste disposal, floor paving, and parking lot signage installation will be directly carried out.
District Mayor Kim Young-jong stated, “We have made continuous efforts to create public parking lots to solve parking problems in the area. However, since parking lot supply projects require significant costs and time, we are promoting the Green Parking Project to encourage resident participation,” adding, “We hope many residents interested in the Green Parking and Vacant Land Creation projects that contribute to alleviating parking inconveniences in residential areas will participate.”
