Seongbuk-gu, Disinfection of Village Bus Stops in COVID-19 Safety Blind Spots

While village buses are disinfected by the transportation companies themselves, village bus stops remain blind spots... Professional disinfection and environmental maintenance in collaboration with private specialized companies

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) conducted disinfection and environmental maintenance at village bus stops.

From March 19 to 24, over six days of disinfection and environmental maintenance work, 49 village bus stops were transformed into safe zones.

Village buses, heavily used by residents, are disinfected by the transportation companies themselves. Since village bus stops are widely distributed throughout Seongbuk-gu, disinfection and sanitation have been cumbersome.

However, there have been continuous calls for disinfection and sanitation because of chairs, route maps, and poles that residents frequently touch directly.

Accordingly, as the COVID-19 crisis alert remained at the severe level and confirmed cases increased, Seongbuk-gu carried out disinfection and environmental maintenance at village bus stops to alleviate residents' concerns and provide a clean and pleasant transportation environment.

With the participation of private professional companies, more specialized disinfection and environmental maintenance were conducted.

Additionally, efforts were made to minimize inconvenience to users by avoiding busy hours when working at stops with many passengers.

A Seongbuk-gu official stated, “We will continue to cooperate with village bus companies so that residents can use public transportation with peace of mind, and as we are concentrating all administrative efforts to overcome COVID-19 early, we ask for residents' participation and support.”
