Euntturak Public Library in Eunpyeong Launches "Chaekdama" Book Curation Service

[Asia Economy, reporter Park Jongil] Eunpyeong-gu (District Mayor Kim Mikyung) announced that the Euntturak Public Library’s special book curation service, "Chaekdama," which introduces unique and meaningful books to residents unable to visit the library in person, closed its promotional event for 100 participants within a single day on March 24.

While the library is temporarily closed due to COVID-19, Euntturak Public Library is offering the "Chaekdama" book curation service, where librarians select and curate 1 to 2 personalized books for each applicant and deliver them to their homes via courier.

There is no shipping fee for the service. Once residents have finished reading, they can return the books using the library’s external return box.

In particular, all returned books are disinfected before being reshelved and made available for safe lending again, as a preventive measure against COVID-19.

Additionally, the third edition of the "Home Library" campaign introduces a naming contest for the library’s newsletter and provides information on the newly launched Euntturak Public Library blog (blog.naver.com/ntbl214) and Facebook page (www.facebook.com/구립-은뜨락도서관-110595520574564).

The newsletter naming contest runs until April 4. Participants can submit their suggested names and brief explanations online. The new blog and Facebook page have been launched to facilitate communication with residents and share library information.

An official from Euntturak Public Library stated, “To prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the community and to meet residents’ cultural needs, we have made it possible to enjoy reading safely and comfortably at home. We will continue to strive so that the 'Chaekdama' book curation service, launched through this promotion, can be operated even after the library reopens, depending on its performance.”
