Gwangju Gwangsan Fire Station Joins COVID-19 'Social Distancing' Efforts

Operation of Remote Work and Flexible Commuting Hours System

Gwangju Gwangsan Fire Station Joins COVID-19 'Social Distancing' Efforts

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju Gwangsan Fire Station (Chief Moon Gisik) announced on the 30th that it will operate telecommuting and staggered working hours until the 5th of next month to actively participate in the short-term intensive 'social distancing' campaign.

This telecommuting will be implemented for up to 30% of personnel in all departments except for departments and department managers where telecommuting is difficult due to the nature of duties such as dispatch.

Gwangsan Fire Station expects that implementing telecommuting will reduce the density of personnel working in the office, prevent group infections of COVID-19, and be helpful to parents of lower-grade students and employees with long commutes.

In addition, staggered working hours are being actively introduced and implemented within the scope that does not interfere with on-site response such as emergency mobilization. Various measures to minimize interpersonal contact are also being strongly practiced according to the 'Short-term Intensive Social Distancing Duty Special Guidelines.'

Chief Moon Gisik said, “I ask all citizens to actively participate with the belief that 'social distancing' is not a choice but an obligation for the early end of COVID-19.”
