[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Hyesoo] On the 29th, the OCN drama 'Rugal' aired an episode where Kang Ki-beom (played by Choi Jin-hyuk) completed his first mission at Rugal and vowed to avenge his wife.
In this episode, Kang Ki-beom, Han Tae-woong (played by Jo Dong-hyuk), Song Mina (played by Jung Hye-in), and Lee Gwang-cheol (played by Park Sun-ho) receive their first mission from Choi Geun-cheol (played by Kim Min-sang). The operation was to hijack a cash vehicle at Go Yong-deok's (played by Park Jung-hak) wedding and dismantle the organization.
Hwang Deuk-gu (played by Park Sung-woong) visits Choi Ye-won (played by Han Ji-wan) in the bride's waiting room to deliver a gift. When the gift is handed over completely unwrapped, Choi Ye-won says, "I care about appearances too. Bring it back in its original packaging." Hwang Deuk-gu replies, "You'll soon see whose appearance really matters," and ignores her request.
Choi Ye-won adds, "Do you think this is all I want?" and warns, "Don't drag my sacred love into your dogfight." Hwang Deuk-gu sarcastically applauds and says, "Keep cherishing your noble love." Choi Ye-won retorts, "Your congratulations are quite nasty."
As Hwang Deuk-gu and Choi Ye-won exchange barbs, Chairman Go Yong-deok enters. After Hwang Deuk-gu leaves, Choi Ye-won remarks, "He only obeys the chairman," and adds, "He handles things neatly, but he's a bit scary." She then cryptically says, "If I weren't here, he'd be next after the chairman. I wonder if he'd just stand by after losing his position." Go Yong-deok responds, "I'll show you that I'm the first and last wedding gift."
Go Yong-deok orders Min Dal-ho (played by Yoo Sang-hoon), "Today is the day. Make sure it's done properly." While going up from the underground parking lot, Hwang Deuk-gu senses a trap as the elevator breaks down and he has to take the stairs, forcing a bitter smile.
Meanwhile, Han Tae-woong and Song Mina successfully take control of the situation room. Lee Gwang-cheol remotely drives a car into the underground parking lot to use as bait. Finally, Kang Ki-beom rides a motorcycle to carry out the mission, spots Min Dal-ho?the man who killed his wife?and starts chasing him. After a relentless pursuit, Kang Ki-beom catches Min Dal-ho and beats him just enough to keep him alive, but Han Tae-woong and Song Mina, who secured the goods, stop him.
Hwang Deuk-gu reports to Go Yong-deok, who just finished his wedding, that the cash transport vehicle has been hijacked. Go Yong-deok shouts at Hwang Deuk-gu, "I knew you'd cause trouble someday," and says, "I'll find out myself." He also points a gun at Hwang Deuk-gu's head and curses. When the chairman orders a car to be prepared, Hwang Deuk-gu says, "Get the chairman's car ready. Handle it nicely," hinting that Go Yong-deok's life might be in danger.
While driving to track the cash truck, Go Yong-deok senses something wrong with the car. Eventually, his car, which was moving erratically, overturns. As Go Yong-deok barely survives and struggles to get out, two police officers come out, put him in a body bag, and disappear. At the same time, other officers place a new corpse in Go Yong-deok's car and set it on fire. Watching this from afar, Han Tae-woong and Song Mina become suspicious.
Hwang Deuk-gu brings the dying Go Yong-deok to the lakeside and meets Choi Ye-won. Hwang Deuk-gu says to the lone Choi Ye-won, "That's so like you, Choi Ye-won, not to flinch," and adds, "I'm surprised you came here alone. You're no ordinary person." Choi Ye-won subtly threatens Hwang Deuk-gu, "The chairman's entire fortune has already passed to me. It will take years to restore the political slush funds to their original state. Can you hold out with your financial power until then?"
Hwang Deuk-gu offers Choi Ye-won a baseball bat to join in killing Go Yong-deok, but when she refuses, he says, "I have something hotter and sharper," and pulls out a gun. Choi Ye-won, with her hand held by Hwang Deuk-gu, shoots Go Yong-deok.
Kang Ki-beom, who messed up the mission due to personal emotions, is locked in solitary confinement. There, he sees a vision of his wife and vows, "I will definitely avenge the bastards who did this to you." Meanwhile, Hwang Deuk-gu learns that Kang Ki-beom is still alive.
While receiving treatment, Kang Ki-beom learns about the secret weapons of the Rugal team members. Song Mina has a chip implanted in her head due to brain damage. If the chip malfunctions, blood will flow backward and her entire body could become paralyzed. Lee Gwang-cheol, severely burned in an explosion, has artificial organs and skin. These require a power supply to function properly. If the power is cut off, skin necrosis and organ failure could occur. Therefore, Lee Gwang-cheol always carries a battery when going outside for long periods. Han Tae-woong has a mechanical arm, but its strength comes not only from technology but also from intense training.
Starting proper training again, Kang Ki-beom formally apologizes in front of Director Choi and the Rugal team for failing the mission. He pledges, "I will accept and uphold the path Rugal is taking."
A captured Argos organization member at the police station provokes Kang Ki-beom, claiming to be the real culprit who killed Kang Ki-beom's wife. He triggers a fire at the police station using a bomb attached to his belt. Kang Ki-beom and Lee Gwang-cheol go to verify the claim. The organization member says, "So you're really alive." When Kang Ki-beom asks, "Who sent you?" the member replies, "Don't you remember my voice?" Kang Ki-beom counters, "I remember the voices, body types, and gaits of the culprits. You're definitely not one of them. Who's behind you?" The member then says, "Well made," presses his head, and commits suicide by detonating the bomb.
