[Public Officials' Assets] Average Wealth of Senior Legal and Prosecutorial Executives 1.9 Billion KRW... Highest is Yoon Seok-yeol with 6.6 Billion KRW

[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Jo] Senior officials of the Ministry of Justice and the prosecution were found to possess assets averaging over 1.9 billion KRW.

According to the "Regular Asset Changes of Senior Public Officials" disclosed on the 26th by the Government Public Officials Ethics Committee, the average assets of 41 individuals subject to asset disclosure from the Ministry of Justice and the Supreme Prosecutors' Office were 1.906 billion KRW. Among those disclosed, 30 people, accounting for 73.2%, held assets exceeding 1 billion KRW.

Although this is a decrease of 110 million KRW from the previous year's average of 2.016 billion KRW, it is more than 600 million KRW higher than the average assets of 1.033 billion KRW for those subject to asset disclosure under the jurisdiction of the Government Public Officials Ethics Committee.

Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol reported the highest assets again this year, amounting to 6.68388 billion KRW. This figure ranks tenth among central government officials.

Yoon's assets increased by 93.119 million KRW compared to the previous disclosure. Deposits rose by about 60 million KRW, from 5.186 billion KRW to 5.247 billion KRW over the year.

Most of the deposits, 5.027 billion KRW, are under the name of his wife, Kim Geon-hee. Prosecutor General Yoon himself declared deposits of 220 million KRW. The declared value of the mixed-use building in Seocho-dong, Seoul, under his spouse's name, remained at 1.2 billion KRW, the same as last year.

Minister of Justice Chu Mi-ae declared assets worth 1.56446 billion KRW. Although this increased by 99 million KRW over the year, it was below the average for the Ministry of Justice and prosecution. Since Minister Chu was appointed after the declaration reference date of December 31 last year, she reported her assets to the National Assembly.

Following Prosecutor General Yoon, Busan High Prosecutor Yang Bu-nam declared assets of 6.35235 billion KRW, an increase of 616 million KRW compared to last year.

The price of an apartment in Bongseon-dong, Gwangju, under his spouse's name rose from 600 million KRW to 896 million KRW, and his spouse's deposits increased from 3.576 billion KRW to 3.816 billion KRW.

Additionally, No Jeong-yeon, head of Jeonju District Prosecutors' Office (5.35769 billion KRW), Moon Chan-seok, head of Gwangju District Prosecutors' Office (4.12553 billion KRW), and Lee Yong-gu, director of the Ministry of Justice Legal Affairs Office (4.08906 billion KRW), declared assets more than twice the average.
