Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to Reduce Survey Fees by 30% in COVID-19 Special Disaster Areas

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Chun-hee] The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 25th that it will reduce fees for cadastral surveying in special disaster areas by 30% until the end of this year to alleviate the economic burden caused by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).

Accordingly, a 30% fee reduction will be applied when applying for boundary restoration, land division, cadastral status, registration conversion surveying, etc., for land located in Daegu, Gyeongsan-si in Gyeongbuk, and Cheongdo and Bonghwa-gun, which have been declared special disaster areas. However, applications submitted by the government, local governments, or public institutions are excluded from the fee reduction. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport predicts that this reduction will benefit about 13,000 cases, providing approximately 1.8 billion KRW in benefits to the public.

So far, the Ministry and the Korea Land and Geospatial Informatix Corporation (LX) have provided cadastral surveying fee reductions for areas damaged by natural disasters such as wildfires, heavy snow, typhoons, earthquakes, or the Yeonpyeongdo area damaged by North Korean shelling. This is the first time that a fee reduction for cadastral surveying due to an infectious disease has been implemented.

Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Kim Hyun-mi stated, "As COVID-19 damage spreads, we will do our best to reduce the burden on the public through proactive measures such as cadastral surveying fee reductions and to help stabilize the lives of affected citizens."
