Suspension of Cafeteria Operations from the 16th, Economic Effect of About 120 Million Won per Month to Revitalize the Region... Promoting Use of Flower Shops Every Tuesday and Operating Traditional Market Days Twice a Month
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Lee Chang-woo) will temporarily suspend the operation of its in-house cafeteria starting from the 16th to revitalize the local economy, which has been stagnated due to the spread of COVID-19, and to practice social distancing.
Until the local community stabilizes from COVID-19, 763 public officials affiliated with the Dongjak-gu office plan to use breakfast and lunch services at restaurants within the district.
The district encourages employees to expand their use of dining establishments beyond the area around the district office, including Noryangjin, Sangdo, and Heukseok, covering the entire district.
It is expected that suspending the in-house cafeteria will generate an economic ripple effect of approximately 120 million KRW per month for the local economy.
Additionally, a campaign to use flower shops every Tuesday will be promoted for all employees. Activities include "One Table One Flower" in offices using 48 local florists, office environment maintenance themed around flowers, and giving flower gifts for White Day.
Twice a month, a "Traditional Market Day" will also be operated. All employees individually support merchants facing difficulties due to decreased customers by shopping and dining at the markets.
The district emphasizes personal hygiene management for public officials who must protect residents' safety on the front lines against COVID-19. To this end, all employees are required to comply with work manuals such as wearing masks during work and daily health checks, and a campaign to encourage all employees to wear cloth masks through the public mask concession movement is underway.
In-san, Director of Administrative Support Division, said, “We will share the difficulties of local small business owners caused by COVID-19 and participate in revitalizing the local economy by setting an example and cooperating.”
