Health Authorities: 50 COVID-19 Cases Related to Guro-gu Call Center (Update)

A large number of COVID-19 confirmed cases occurred at the Korea Building in Sindorim-dong, Guro-gu, Seoul.

[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] As of the 10th, 50 confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been identified at a call center located in Guro-gu, Seoul. Among them, 46 are employees and 4 are contacts such as family members.

The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters for COVID-19 announced that this was confirmed through an epidemiological investigation conducted up to this date. Among the employees, the cases are distributed by region as follows: 19 in Seoul, 14 in Gyeonggi Province, and 13 in Incheon. In Seoul, the cases are from Guro-gu, where the company is located, as well as Nowon-gu, Gwanak-gu, Gangseo-gu, Eunpyeong-gu, and Dongjak-gu. In Gyeonggi Province, they are identified as residents of Anyang, Gwangmyeong, and Gimpo.

At a briefing, Kwon Jun-wook of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters stated, "Excluding family contacts, all 46 confirmed cases were confirmed to have worked on the 11th floor call center," and added, "An epidemiological investigation and specimen testing are underway for 207 employees of the call center." The health authorities also plan to check for additional cases among employees working on other floors (7th to 9th floors) of the same company.
