[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Changwoo Lee) reported an additional confirmed case of COVID-19 on the 9th.
The confirmed patient is Ms. B (born in 1991, female), residing in Daebang-dong, who was tested at the Dongjak-gu Public Health Center on the 8th while under self-quarantine and received a positive diagnosis on the 9th.
Ms. B is presumed to have come into contact with the 5th confirmed patient from Dongdaemun-gu, who was confirmed on the 8th, at Dongdaemun Dongan Church, and she began experiencing coughing symptoms on the 2nd. Ms. B worked at a company located in Sindebang-dong from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM on February 27 and March 3, and worked from home on other workdays.
The district notified the company of the confirmed case and secured the list of employees who attended work on the 3rd. The Seoul epidemiological investigators are verifying Ms. B’s movement routes, and the city and district immediate response teams have been formed to conduct further investigations.
Currently, the patient’s condition is stable, and she is scheduled to be transferred to Seonam Hospital in Yangcheon-gu. It has been confirmed that there are no cohabitants such as family members living with the confirmed patient.
Immediately upon notification of the confirmed case, the district deployed an emergency disinfection team from the public health center to disinfect the patient’s residence, the company building, and surrounding areas.
To minimize community transmission of COVID-19, the Dongjak Disinfection Countermeasures Headquarters will conduct disinfection of multi-use facilities and passageways throughout the district, including Daebang-dong.
The Dongjak-gu Disaster Safety and Disinfection Countermeasures Headquarters urged residents experiencing respiratory symptoms such as fever and cough to consult and use screening clinics before visiting medical institutions.
Additionally, until the 15th, residents are appealed to voluntarily practice social distancing by ▲minimizing outings ▲refraining from unnecessary gatherings ▲following COVID-19 prevention guidelines ▲canceling religious activities, meetings, and events.
Mayor Changwoo Lee of Dongjak-gu said, “We will promptly disclose the confirmed patient’s movement routes as soon as accurate epidemiological investigation results are available,” and added, “We will prioritize residents’ health and safety and devote all efforts to disinfection to prevent further spread of infection.”
