[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Yeon-ju] The late Goo Hara's older brother has filed a property division lawsuit against their biological mother.

Dispatch reported on the 9th that since the 3rd, Goo Hara's bereaved family has begun a legal dispute over inheritance property.

According to the report, Goo Hara's biological mother appointed a legal representative and claimed that, according to the order of inheritance, direct ascendants should receive 50% of the property. However, Goo Hara's biological father did not accept the mother's demand and transferred his 50% share to Goo Hara's older brother.

Following the transfer of the inheritance share by Goo Hara's father, the property is to be divided 5:5 between the mother and the older brother, but Goo Hara's older brother raised objections to the mother's claim and reportedly filed a lawsuit for inheritance property division adjudication at the Gwangju Family Court on the 3rd.

Goo Hara's biological father's side told Dispatch, "(The mother) abandoned her young children and left the house. On what grounds does she expect Goo Hara's property?"

They added, "The father traveled around the country to provide child support. During that time, the Hara siblings spent their school years without their mother. Their grandmother and older brother took care of Hara."

Goo Hara's older brother's side responded, "When the biological mother ran away, Hara was 9 years old," and "She lived fighting the trauma of being abandoned her whole life."

Goo Hara's older brother's side cited Article 1008-2 (Contribution) of the Civil Act, which aims to promote substantial fairness among co-heirs, stating, "The biological father bore the costs of Hara's upbringing and living expenses. After her debut, he actively supported her as a guardian," explaining the reason for the lawsuit.

Meanwhile, Goo Hara passed away on November 24 of last year at the age of 28.
