Chungnam, Drone Disinfection at Yu Gwansun Martyr's Birthplace and Magoksa Temple

[Asia Economy (Naepo) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Chungnam Province will conduct aerial disinfection of outdoor tourist sites within the region.

On the 9th, the province announced that it will disinfect 13 outdoor tourist sites distributed across 7 cities and counties, including the birthplace of activist Yu Gwan-sun and Magoksa Temple, using drones.

Drone disinfection involves deploying drones equipped with disinfectant to spray the chemicals from the air, allowing for rapid disinfection over a wide area.

This disinfection effort is being carried out jointly with the respective cities and counties and local drone training centers. Each city and county provides disinfectant supplies, while drone training centers such as Chungnam Unmanned Aerial Education Center, Drone Academy, Sunmoon Drone Education Center, Hangil Survey & Design, TturuTtu, SDH (SDAH) Drone Academy, and Chungcheong Unmanned Aerial participate as volunteer drone operators.

The disinfection targets include ▲Cheonan City’s Yu Gwan-sun Birthplace and Seok-o Lee Dong-nyeong Birthplace ▲Gongju City’s Magoksa Temple and Gongsanseong Fortress ▲Asan City’s Oeam Folk Village and Ginkgo Tree Road ▲Seosan City’s Haemieupseong Fortress and Ganwolam Hermitage ▲Nonsan City’s Sunshine Land, Studio, and Nonsan Citizens’ Park ▲Dangjin City’s Hapdeokje Reservoir ▲Buyeo County’s Busosanseong Fortress and Gungnamji Pond.

Before the drone disinfection, the province held a video conference with the relevant cities and counties to emphasize caution to prevent disinfectants from being exposed to humans and agreed to conduct the disinfection activities on Mondays when traffic is low.

Gil Young-sik, Director of the Provincial Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau, said, “With the spread of COVID-19 increasing public anxiety, we will do our best in disinfection activities so that tourists visiting the province can safely enjoy the tourist sites.”
