Mapo-gu Operates 'Dosirak Day' for Social Economy Enterprises Responding to COVID-19... Public Purchase of Dosirak Specialist Social Economy Enterprise Products Facing Market Access Difficulties... Relay Held Twice by All Mapo-gu Departments Until April, Voluntary Implementation Until December

Why Does Yudonggyun, Mayor of Mapo-gu, Eat Social Enterprise Lunchboxes? On the 5th, Yudonggyun, Mayor of Mapo District, purchased lunchboxes from social economy enterprises facing difficulties in market development due to the spread of COVID-19 through public procurement and had lunch with employees.

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Mapo-gu (Mayor Yudonggyun) is operating a ‘Bigger and Happier Social Economy Lunchbox Day’ involving all department employees to support social economy enterprises specializing in lunchboxes that are struggling to find sales channels due to the spread of COVID-19.

This event involves the district purchasing lunchboxes from three social economy enterprises specializing in lunchboxes located in Mapo-gu, which are then consumed by public officials.

The purpose is to stimulate local consumption and overcome the difficult economic conditions faced by social economy enterprises amid challenging economic circumstances.

To this end, the district announced that about 60 departments, including community service centers, will participate in the event in a relay format.

From March to April, each department will operate ‘Lunchbox Day’ twice, and from May to December, departments will conduct the event autonomously throughout the year.

The event began on the 5th with Mayor Yudonggyun of Mapo-gu hosting the event together with the staff of the Employment Support Division.

Sharing lunchboxes made by ‘Tripti,’ a social economy enterprise in Mapo-gu, Mayor Yudonggyun said, “To recover the local economy, which has been stagnating due to COVID-19, we will increase the public procurement ratio of social economy enterprise products by public institutions and continue to listen to the difficulties of private companies, self-employed workers, and various sectors, activating possible support measures.”
