[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] On the afternoon of the 4th at 4 PM, Oh Seung-rok, the mayor of Nowon-gu, encouraged the volunteers who participated in making COVID-19 prevention healing masks at the Nowon-gu Lifelong Education Center.
The healing mask production was organized by about 10 people, including sewing class instructors and volunteers from the Lifelong Education Center, coming together in response to the mask shortage caused by the mask purchasing frenzy.
First, they purchased the outer fabric and inner cotton lining, which are the materials for the masks, at Dongdaemun Plaza Market. After a production meeting on the 2nd, they completed 20 final healing masks within two days.
The volunteers aim to complete up to 200 masks through 3 to 4 hours of intensive work daily. Additionally, the masks are made in large, medium, and small sizes with replaceable filters.
On this day, Mayor Oh Seung-rok encouraged the volunteers who were dedicated to the mask production by observing the healing mask making process.
Oh Seung-rok, mayor of Nowon-gu, said, “After trying it on myself, it feels much warmer and more comfortable than disposable masks,” and added, “The finished products will be distributed to the autonomous quarantine teams working hard on prevention activities, and some will be donated to veterans’ organizations.”
