Deputy Prime Minister Hong Nam-gi Presents Medals and High Taxpayer Awards on 'Taxpayer's Day'

[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] Hong Nam-ki, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, held an award ceremony on the 4th at the Seoul Banking Hall in place of the canceled 54th 'Taxpayer's Day' commemorative ceremony due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the Ministry of Economy and Finance announced.

The Taxpayer's Day commemorative ceremony was originally scheduled to be a large-scale event on the 3rd as in previous years, but it was inevitably canceled as the infectious disease crisis alert related to COVID-19 was raised to the 'serious' level.

However, Deputy Prime Minister Hong Nam-ki personally presented awards such as medals and plaques to 20 recipients of the high-taxpayer tower awards, expressing gratitude to the citizens who faithfully paid taxes despite the difficult economic situation over the past year.

Deputy Prime Minister Hong Nam-ki praised, "Those who have faithfully paid taxes and contributed to the national finances while managing their businesses soundly are the 'true hidden patriots' of our society."

He also stated, "The government will do its best to ensure that every precious tax won is used as efficiently as possible without any waste."

Meanwhile, for awardees other than those who received medals and plaques on this day (Presidential Citation, Prime Minister Citation, Deputy Prime Minister Citation), the awards will be delivered directly to the recipients through the National Tax Service and the Korea Customs Service.
