[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Warmth from the local community continues to support medical staff who are working tirelessly on the front lines amid the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
According to Gachon University Gil Medical Center on the 29th, donation items were sent on the 27th and 28th to medical personnel who are doing their best on-site to prevent and treat COVID-19.
Cafes near the hospital, such as Dalkom Coffee (Incheon Gil Medical Center branch), Cafe Yul (Incheon Guwol branch), and Twosome Place (Incheon Guwol branch), sent donation items to encourage the medical staff. They also delivered messages of support to cheer on the healthcare workers.
A medical staff member at the Respiratory Safety Center of Gil Medical Center said, "As COVID-19 cases surge nationwide, we are doing our best in community quarantine and screening," adding, "The messages of encouragement from citizens give us great strength."
In this regard, Hospital Director Kim Yang-woo stated, "Gachon University Gil Medical Center has been the leading medical institution in the region, serving as the guardian of health for Incheon citizens," and added, "Encouraged by the support from citizens, we will work even harder to prevent the spread of COVID-19."
Meanwhile, since the 21st, Gachon University Gil Medical Center has been operating a 'Respiratory Safety Center' in a separate building completely isolated from the existing treatment areas for all respiratory patients exhibiting symptoms such as fever, cough, and sputum.
