Temporary Suspension of General Services at Dongdaemun-gu Health Center to Focus on COVID-19 Response

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol) is implementing stronger measures to prevent COVID-19 infections among its residents.

Dongdaemun-gu announced that it has temporarily suspended the general services of the Dongdaemun-gu Public Health Center since the 26th. This measure aims to concentrate health administrative resources on COVID-19 screening to prevent the spread of the virus.

The suspended services include △ internal medicine, dental, and Korean medicine consultations and prescriptions △ issuance of health examination certificates (formerly health certificates) and other medical document tests △ metabolic syndrome screening △ smoking cessation clinic △ vaccinations △ physical therapy room △ clinical pathology laboratory △ radiology room △ operation of the Dongdaemun-gu Citizen Health Promotion Center located in Imun-dong. However, to minimize inconvenience for residents regarding the health examination certificates (formerly health certificates), an agreement has been reached to allow issuance at the Korea Health Management Association Seoul Eastern Branch (78 Wangsanno, Yongdu-dong) from March 2 at a temporarily reduced fee of 8,000 KRW, which is cheaper than general hospitals and clinics (approximately 20,000 to 30,000 KRW).

The Dongdaemun-gu Public Health Center plans to maintain the suspension of general services until the COVID-19 spread situation is resolved.

Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol of Dongdaemun-gu stated, “Due to the recent surge in confirmed COVID-19 cases, we have inevitably decided to temporarily suspend the general services of the health center and focus on screening symptomatic individuals. We ask residents to understand the inconvenience and strictly follow preventive measures to prevent further spread of COVID-19.”
