[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] On the 28th, the Democratic Party's Nomination Management Committee requested the party to designate Gimhae-eul in Gyeongnam as a strategic area. This means that incumbent lawmaker Kim Jeong-ho of Gimhae-eul, Gyeongnam, was "cut off" (excluded from nomination).
The committee also requested that Cheonan-gap in Chungnam, the constituency of lawmaker Lee Gyu-hee who declared he would not run, be designated as a strategic area.
In Seoul Gangseo-gap, candidates Geum Tae-seop and Kang Seon-woo were set to compete in a primary. Daejeon Jung-gu (Song Haeng-su, Jeon Byeong-deok, Hwang Un-ha), Gyeonggi Yongin-gap (Oh Se-young, Lee Hwa-young), and Jeonnam Yeosu-gap (Kang Hwa-su, Kim Yu-hwa) were also classified as primary election districts.
For 16 districts including Seoul Yangcheon-gap (Hwang Hee), Songpa-eul (Choi Jae-sung), Gangdong-gap (Jin Sun-mi), Incheon Namdong-eul (Yoon Kwan-seok), Gyeonggi Yongin-eul (Kim Min-gi), Paju-eul (Park Jeong), and Yangju (Jung Seong-ho), single-candidate nominations were confirmed.
