Prime Minister Jeong Conducts Unannounced Inspection of Mask Supply at Daegu Nonghyup and Pharmacies

Doing Our Best to Secure Supply... "Secured Supply Will Be Immediately Provided to Consumers" Emphasized

Prime Minister Jeong Conducts Unannounced Inspection of Mask Supply at Daegu Nonghyup and Pharmacies Prime Minister Jeong Sye-gyun is conducting an unannounced inspection of mask supply sites during his visit to a pharmacy located in Daegu on the 28th.

[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun promised on the 28th, "We will do our best to secure supply volumes by considering not only domestic production but also overseas imports to meet the public's demand for masks."

On the same day, Prime Minister Chung chaired the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters meeting in Daegu, then visited Daegu Livestock Cooperative Headquarters Hanaro Mart and Medipharm Ilsun Pharmacy to check the mask supply situation and made this statement.

Prime Minister Chung's visit was made without prior notice to directly check whether there were any changes felt by the public at the site after the government's additional emergency mask supply adjustment measures, and whether there were any difficulties in implementation.

The government announced an emergency measure to address the mask shortage by mandating over 50% of mask production to be sold through public channels and restricting exports to prevent overseas outflow.

Prime Minister Chung said, "We will strive to normalize mask supply as soon as possible through government measures." He added, "We expect domestic distribution to increase due to export restrictions imposed by the government," emphasizing, "It is important not only to secure the supply but also to ensure that the secured supply is immediately provided to consumers."
