[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] The Vietnamese government has decided to prohibit visa-free entry for South Korean nationals starting from the 29th in order to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).

According to the South Korean Embassy in Vietnam on the 28th, the Vietnamese government notified that it will temporarily suspend visa-free entry for South Korean nationals from 00:01 on the 29th.

This is a strengthened measure from the previous ban on entry for foreigners including South Koreans residing in Daegu and Gyeongbuk, where COVID-19 cases are rapidly increasing, and those who have visited these areas within the last 14 days.

With this decision by the Vietnamese government, it is expected that the issuance of visas for South Koreans to Vietnam will also be significantly restricted.
