Jeonnam Province Confirms Identities of 95% of Shincheonji Followers

60 Symptomatic Individuals with Mild Respiratory Symptoms... Specimen Testing Requested

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province has completed the first round of a full survey of ‘Shincheonji believers’ for the prevention and blocking of ‘COVID-19’.

Jeonnam Province announced on the 27th that out of 13,597 targeted individuals, the identities of 12,905 people (95%) were confirmed, and among those confirmed, 12,845 people (99.5%) showed no symptoms.

There were 692 people who could not be reached in the first round of calls. The total number of symptomatic individuals confirmed was 60.

Among the symptomatic individuals, none had visited Daegu or had contact with confirmed cases, and most showed mild respiratory symptoms such as dry cough and fever.

The province transported the 60 symptomatic individuals to screening clinics, completed specimen collection, and requested investigations from testing institutions such as the Jeonnam Health and Environment Research Institute.

They also carried out disinfection of self-quarantine spaces (such as homes) and urged caution among nearby residents.

For the 692 people not confirmed in the first call, they plan to continue attempts for second and third calls via text messages, and if necessary, will request nearby police stations to conduct location tracking.

Jeonnam Governor Kim Young-rok stated, “We plan to conduct investigations not only on the currently surveyed individuals but also on additional data such as trainees received from the Central Disease Control Headquarters,” and added, “If high-risk occupational groups such as welfare facilities are found, we will continuously provide special management.”

He also said, “Symptomatic individuals will be promptly managed according to the infectious disease control manual, and asymptomatic individuals will be considered active monitors for two weeks and surveyed twice daily, doing our best to prevent COVID-19.”
