[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] Yoo Seung-hee, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea (Seoul Seongbuk-gap), said on the 27th that she "cannot accept at all" the results of the first round of the April 15 general election primary.

In a post on her Facebook on the same day, Rep. Yoo said, "I absolutely cannot accept the results of the party members' and general voters' elections," adding, "Our side had more party members, and during feedback, we confirmed more than 1,800 cases."

She continued, "There is an unacceptable level of difference in the general vote as well," and said, "In the previous candidate suitability survey, I won despite the opponent even cheating, so I cannot understand how the general vote results came out like this in less than a month."

According to the Democratic Party's Seoul Seongbuk-gap primary results announced the day before, three-term Rep. Yoo was defeated by Kim Young-bae, former Seongbuk District Mayor and former Blue House Civil Affairs Secretary. According to Rep. Yoo, former Secretary Kim received 64% of the party members' vote and 62% of the general vote, while Rep. Yoo received 36% of the party members' vote and 38% of the general vote.

Regarding this, Rep. Yoo said, "The results are so distorted compared to the trust and confidence that party members and residents have in me," adding, "It is utterly absurd."

She also said, "It is problematic that suddenly the polling observation by the polling agency was prohibited due to COVID-19," and added, "I will request a thorough investigation and file an objection according to the party constitution and regulations."
