[Asia Economy Reporter Han Seung-gon] Gwangmyeong City Hall in Gyeonggi announced on the 26th that the first confirmed case of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) has occurred.
At 3:53 PM on the same day, Gwangmyeong City Hall sent an emergency disaster text message stating, "The confirmed patient has been transferred to Myongji Hospital and is in stable condition," and added, "An epidemiological investigation is underway regarding this case."
In response to the escalation of the COVID-19 alert level to serious, Gwangmyeong City decided to temporarily close Gwangmyeong Cave, Gwangmyeong Upcycle Art Center, Gwangmyeong Citizens' Hall, Citizens' Stadium, Culture House, Ori Seowon, and Ki Hyung-do Literature Museum.
Gwangmyeong Golf Practice Range, Gwangmyeong Bicycle Racing Track, Korea Racing Authority Gwangmyeong Branch, Gwangmyeong National Sports Center, six social welfare centers, local senior centers, and senior dining halls have also been closed. The Gwangmyeong Citizens' Gymnasium has suspended all operating programs.
Gwangmyeong City plans to immediately disclose information about the confirmed patient, their movement paths, and quarantine measures on the city hall website as soon as the epidemiological investigation is completed.
