Three More COVID-19 Cases Confirmed in Andong... Including One Shincheonji Elementary School Teacher February 26 Briefing by Kwon Young-se, Mayor of Andong.


[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Ju Cheol-in] Three additional confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) have been reported in Andong, Gyeongbuk.


According to Andong City on the 26th, A (26, female), an elementary school teacher among the confirmed cases, tested positive and was placed under self-quarantine.


All of the newly confirmed cases are female, including one Shincheonji Church of Jesus member and two ordinary citizens. As a result, the total number of confirmed cases in the Andong area has increased to 11, including five participants in the pilgrimage, one Shincheonji member, and five ordinary citizens.


A, a Shincheonji believer, was identified to have come into contact with the 31st confirmed patient in Daegu and at the Shincheonji Daegu Church on the 17th.


According to the epidemiological investigation by health authorities, after coming from Daegu to Andong, A went to school from the 19th to the 21st, had a dinner gathering with fellow teachers at a restaurant in downtown Andong, and also visited a mart.


The university student B (22, female) and office worker C (24, female), who were also confirmed positive on the same day, have been placed under self-quarantine.


B attended a friend's graduation ceremony in Daejeon on the 19th of this month, and that friend was later confirmed as a COVID-19 patient in the Daejeon area. C is a colleague at the same company as the 328th confirmed patient.


Andong City has begun an epidemiological investigation of 251 citizens who had contact with the confirmed patients. Additionally, the city posted the movement routes of the newly confirmed patients on the city hall website and urged citizens whose routes overlapped to "follow COVID-19 prevention guidelines and visit the health center screening clinic if symptoms appear."
