‘COVID-19’ Daejeon 3 New Cases, Cheonan 1 Additional Confirmed... Cohort Isolation of Daejeon Seongse Hospital Patients (Comprehensive)

[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Additional confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) have occurred in Daejeon and Chungnam.


According to Daejeon City and Chungnam Province on the 26th, three new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Daejeon, and one case was confirmed in Cheonan, Chungnam.


The newly confirmed cases in Daejeon include one nurse from Seongse Hospital, one researcher affiliated with the Korea Forest Research Institute, and one station staff member from Wolpyeong Station of Daejeon Metro, all in their 40s.


The city placed 39 inpatients and medical staff who were inside Seongse Hospital at the time the nurse was confirmed positive under cohort quarantine, and seven medical staff who had already left work were placed under self-quarantine.


The city is conducting epidemiological investigations on the newly confirmed cases and plans to make an official announcement with detailed information at 3 p.m.


In Cheonan, Ms. D (44, female) was tested at the screening clinic of Soonchunhyang University Cheonan Hospital on the 24th due to symptoms including fever and was under self-quarantine when she was finally confirmed positive at around 9:40 a.m. on the 26th. It was confirmed that Ms. D first showed symptoms such as fever on the 23rd.


Ms. D is currently hospitalized and receiving treatment after being transferred to an infectious disease control facility (negative pressure isolation ward). The province plans to confirm Ms. D’s main symptoms through epidemiological investigation.


Meanwhile, with the additional confirmed cases today, the total number of COVID-19 positive cases has increased to six in Daejeon and five in Chungnam, respectively.
