According to the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, this is the second case of COVID-19 infection confirmed in Japan after disembarking from the Diamond Princess, following a woman residing in Tochigi Prefecture. The COVID-19 infection of the woman in her 60s residing in Tokushima Prefecture is also the first infection case in the Shikoku region.
As a result, COVID-19 infections have occurred in all major regions of Japan, including Hokkaido, Honshu, and Kyushu. On the same day, five men and women aged 20 to 70 in Hokkaido and three women aged 40 to 70 in Nagoya City tested positive for COVID-19.
