[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Samho) announced on the 26th that it will carry out the ‘Standing Table Installation Support Project’ to facilitate convenient restaurant use for foreigners, the elderly, and the disabled who feel uncomfortable with floor-seating culture.
This project by Gwangsan-gu aims to improve the dining environment by replacing floor-seating tables with standing tables, providing support for 50% of the improvement costs, up to a maximum of 1 million KRW.
The support target is general restaurants in Gwangsan-gu that have been registered for business for more than six months.
A field survey will be conducted considering factors such as small scale, installation location, business owner’s willingness, and conditions to finalize the target stores.
Business owners wishing to improve their facilities can refer to the ‘Notices and Announcements’ section on the Gwangsan-gu Office website, prepare the application form and business plan, and submit them by mail or visit to the Gwangsan-gu Food Hygiene Division by the 12th of next month.
A Gwangsan-gu official said, “We will improve the environment so that customers who have difficulty with floor-seating tables can enjoy the taste of Gwangsan-gu without inconvenience, contributing to the revitalization of the local economy.”
