[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] On the 24th, President Moon Jae-in said at the senior secretaries and aides meeting, which was also a roundtable with experts from the medical community, "The novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) crisis is increasing public anxiety about safety while economic damage is also growing," adding, "The government is facing the dual challenges of quarantine and the economy with extraordinary determination."


In particular, President Moon stated, "We must mobilize the nation's full capabilities to definitely stop the spread of COVID-19," and "Today’s meeting specially invited academic experts related to infectious diseases. These are individuals who provide accurate medical information and advice to the public and medical field based on clinical experience and expertise. They are also a great help to the government’s situational assessment and response."

President Moon expressed, "I appreciate the efforts made so far and ask for active discussions on how to respond to the changing patterns of COVID-19. We will actively reflect this in the government’s quarantine measures."


President Moon said, "Currently, the government is accelerating the full investigation and diagnostic testing of Shincheonji Church members, where multiple group infections have occurred. To prevent the spread of infection to other local communities as well as the special management areas of Daegu and Cheongdo, all risk factors must be thoroughly managed and controlled."


President Moon added, "The government is mobilizing all capabilities, including local government quarantine authorities and private medical institutions, to operate the quarantine system with full force," and "I once again ask the public to trust our quarantine capabilities and medical system and to join forces in overcoming the current difficulties."
