[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] The government is recruiting new online lottery (Lotto) sales outlets. The recruitment targets include priority contract candidates specified in Article 30 of the Lottery and Lottery Fund Act, such as persons with disabilities, national merit recipients, and basic livelihood security recipients, as well as the lower-income class.
The Ministry of Strategy and Finance's Lottery Commission announced on the 23rd that it plans to recruit 1,794 online lottery sales outlets this year.
This figure combines 711 newly recruited outlets under the lottery sales expansion plan for this year, 696 replacements for outlets whose contracts were terminated last year due to violations of the Lottery Act or health reasons, and 387 outlets that were not established last year.
Last year, the Lottery Commission approved a plan to expand lottery sales outlets from 7,211 to 9,582, and is gradually expanding them over three years.
The Lottery Commission plans to complete the final selection by April and grant new sales outlets a setup period of more than six months.
The Lottery Commission explained, "To assist in opening sales outlets, we will provide startup consulting and select preliminary candidates by region to offer more opportunities for vulnerable groups to participate."
