Closure of 194 Facilities Frequently Used by Multiple People, Including Welfare Centers and Senior Citizens' Centers
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) will close multi-use facilities such as libraries, sports facilities, youth centers, and welfare facilities to prevent the spread of COVID-19 (novel coronavirus infection).
Additionally, programs operated at community service centers, cultural facilities, educational facilities, and welfare facilities will be temporarily suspended.
This closure and temporary suspension of programs aim to prevent community transmission and protect residents' safety by blocking the spread of COVID-19, as confirmed cases have occurred nationwide.
The main facilities closing include 45 senior citizen centers within the district, Myeonmok Health Branch, Sangbong Health Substation, I-Mom Plus Center, and Maternal and Child Health Center?four health institutions?as well as the annex of Muk 1-dong Community Center, Myeonmok Village Cooperative Workplace, Mangwoo Village Cooperative Workplace, totaling 194 locations.
Facilities suspending program operations include 277 programs at 16 community service centers, 13 programs at 8 educational facilities such as Sinnae-dong Informatization Education Center and Myeonmok 5-dong Informatization Education Center, totaling 101 locations and 424 programs.
The district plans to decide the closure and temporary suspension period based on the COVID-19 transmission situation and will intensively carry out disinfection activities around schools and other areas within the district as the spring break ends soon to ensure residents' safety.
Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, stated, "We ask for the cooperation of all residents regarding this closure measure, and our district will do its best to prevent the spread of COVID-19," adding, "We urge everyone to be more thorough in personal hygiene management, such as handwashing."
Jungnang-gu has adjusted or canceled the schedules of 50 events with many participants, such as traditional folk game transmission events.
