Two Daejeon Citizens Initially Tested Positive for COVID-19, Finally Confirmed Negative

[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Two Daejeon citizens who tested positive in the first rapid test for the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) were finally confirmed negative in the second detailed examination.

According to Daejeon City on the 21st, two local women who tested positive in the first test were confirmed negative in the second detailed examination conducted by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency.

These women, in their 30s and 40s, reside in Seo-gu, Daejeon, and are reportedly strangers to each other. The city also confirmed that they have no connection to Shincheonji.

Earlier, they visited local clinics due to symptoms such as sore throat, cough, and fever, and upon medical staff's recommendation, underwent the first test at a screening clinic, which resulted in positive diagnoses.

In response, health authorities transferred them to negative pressure isolation rooms at Chungnam National University Hospital and quarantined them, while issuing emergency closure orders to the two local clinics they initially visited.

However, as both tested negative in the second examination, the previously closed clinics have resumed operations, and the families who were initially classified as close contacts and placed under self-quarantine are expected to be released from isolation.
