Battle Royale-MMORPG Hybrid Genre Launch
Pre-registration Event Before Official Release Underway
[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-gyu Lee] Netmarble's new hybrid genre mobile game 'A3: Steel Alive' will officially launch its service on the 12th of next month.
Netmarble announced on the 21st that A3: Steel Alive will be officially released in South Korea on March 12 through the two major application (app) markets, Google Play and Apple App Store. Netmarble has set a strategy to capture both the popularity of the battle royale genre and the market potential of massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPG) with this game.
A3: Steel Alive attracted attention even before its release, with game footage revealed at G-Star for two consecutive years from 2018 to 2019. It draws interest as Netmarble's first hybrid genre game. It combines the survival-style battle royale format, where the last person standing wins, with MMORPG elements that allow multiple gamers to participate simultaneously. At last year's G-Star, Netmarble Chairman Bang Jun-hyuk praised the game, stating, "Hybrid genre games will become the trend in the future."
A3: Steel Alive is also significant as a mobile game based on the intellectual property (IP) of Netmarble's PC game 'A3,' which was released in 2002 and gained popularity. Netmarble's previous successful titles such as 'Lineage 2 Revolution,' 'Blade & Soul Revolution,' 'Marvel Future Fight,' and 'The Seven Deadly Sins' were developed based on other companies' IPs.
Meanwhile, Netmarble is conducting a pre-registration event until the official launch. Pre-registered users will receive in-game currency including 100,000 gold and 50 blue diamonds, and will be entered into a draw to win prizes such as the Samsung Galaxy S20, Galaxy Watch, GoPro Hero, and Google Gift Cards.
