Patient A (61), the 31st confirmed case suspected of being a 'super spreader' of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), is reported to be staying in the isolation ward without any special symptoms.
According to Daegu Medical Center on the 20th, Patient A has been isolated in a negative pressure room in the East Building since the 17th. Since the condition is not severe enough to require an oxygen respirator, it is known that he is able to use the restroom inside the room by himself.
The medical center provides Patient A with meals from the patient cafeteria in disposable containers. When the meals are brought to the East Building, medical staff receive them at the entrance and deliver them to Patient A. It is reported that he is eating without any particular difficulty.
There are ten COVID-19 confirmed patients staying in ten negative pressure rooms in the East Building of Daegu Medical Center. So far, no visitors have come to see them. The medical center stated, "We are regularly providing treatment and conducting tests. If a negative result is confirmed, discharge will be possible based on the medical staff's judgment."
Before being confirmed positive, Patient A traveled around various places in Seoul and Daegu. In particular, the number of COVID-19 confirmed cases linked to the Shincheonji Daegu Church, which Patient A visited, has reached thirty-three so far. Due to this, interest in Patient A has surged, and various fake photos are circulating on social networking services (SNS).
Regarding this, the Daegu Police Agency stated, "It has been confirmed that these are not true," and added, "We will strictly respond by tracking and arresting not only the original producers of the fake news but also the intermediaries who spread it."
