[Asia Economy Reporter Osangdo] The government announced on the 20th that it has activated an inter-ministerial special task force in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions, where the number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) increased by 30 in one day. The task force includes 28 officials from 10 organizations, including the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Ministry of Health and Welfare, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Ministry of Employment and Labor, National Police Agency, National Fire Agency, Daegu City, and Gyeongbuk Province.

According to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the inter-ministerial task force to prevent further spread of COVID-19 is led by the head of the Central Accident Response Headquarters' Bed Management Task Force (TF) and is composed of five divisions and teams at the manager level.

It operates separately from the existing countermeasure support headquarters organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to enhance on-site response capabilities. First, it has established a separate office at Daegu City Hall to assist with resource support such as medical supplies and quarantine materials, self-quarantine management, relief supplies support, workplace disinfection and employment stability support, waste disposal, and other necessary on-site measures.

An official from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety explained, "We also operate a local government liaison team composed of dispatched personnel from Daegu City and Gyeongbuk Province to strengthen cooperation with neighboring local governments."
