[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Amid internal discord over integration and candidate nominations, Hwang Kyo-ahn, leader of the Future Korea Party, warned that "even the smallest noise within the party can resonate as a loud sound during this critical time," cautioning against any leaks of discord.

At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly main building on the 20th, Leader Hwang said, "There are forces eagerly awaiting our disputes and divisions. I, as the leader, will be careful and vigilant," emphasizing this point.

He encouraged, "The launch of the United Future Party has brought expectations and excitement to many citizens, and many are saying that now is the time to give it a real try. Voluntary sacrifices and dedication, such as declarations of not running or running in difficult districts, are gradually opening the hearts of the previously closed public. The party is slowly establishing its position."

Regarding the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), which he referred to as 'Wuhan pneumonia,' he pointed out, "Just yesterday, confirmed cases of Wuhan pneumonia surged by about 20, and cases without contact with confirmed overseas travelers are emerging one after another. Analysts say that the dangerous situation of community infection has become a reality, yet President Moon said just before this, 'It will end soon, so do not be excessively anxious.'"

He criticized, "The president, prime minister, and ruling party all spread baseless optimism, but the number of confirmed cases is increasing at an enormous speed. Isn't this administration deceiving the people without any foresight? It is extremely complacent and lax."

Leader Hwang stated, "Although President Moon said that extraordinary measures requiring policy imagination beyond expectations are necessary, in fact, the livelihood of our people has long been in a state beyond emergency to ultra-emergency. The fundamental cause of the economic crisis is not the infectious disease but the socialist economic experiments conducted by the Moon administration over the past three years."

He criticized further, "The wavering economic perception is the root cause of the crisis, and the fundamental cause is the tax and debt spree to cover up the collapse of jobs. The focus on election events like North Korea tourism and Xi Jinping's visit to Korea is the cause."

Hwang emphasized, "With the current situation, economic revival is absolutely impossible. Now, more than ever, we must focus on the fundamentals of the economy. If you plan to pour more blood tax under the pretext of Wuhan pneumonia, stop immediately. Recognizing the economic mismanagement and making a major shift is the most urgent and extraordinary measure."

Meanwhile, at the Supreme Council meeting that day, there was also an event welcoming the joining of Representative Kim Jung-ro, who left the Bareunmirae Party. Leader Hwang dressed Representative Kim in a United Future Party jumper and asked the members to give a welcoming round of applause.
