[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] KT has formed an industry-academia-research AI collaboration group called the 'AI One Team' with Hyundai Heavy Industries Holdings, KAIST, Hanyang University, and the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI). The industry is paying attention as this marks the beginning of CEO-designate Koo Hyun-mo's active management activities.

On the 20th, KT announced that by forming the AI One Team, it will embark on realizing "Korea as the No.1 AI nation" through building a talent development platform and creating an open AI ecosystem. This collaboration signifies that industry, academia, and research institutes have come together to establish concrete plans for the successful implementation of the government's "AI National Strategy." CEO-designate Koo Hyun-mo said, "In the AI and 5G era, KT's way to contribute to Korea is by leveraging our telecommunications network, ICT technology, and AI technology to help improve citizens' lives and innovate other industries," adding, "Through the AI One Team, we will spare no effort to support Korea becoming the leading AI nation driving the Fourth Industrial Revolution."

The collaboration group will establish an AI talent development platform. They will open an "industry-practical AI education course" to cultivate technical personnel tailored to the characteristics of each industrial sector. They will also build a platform connecting the supply and demand of AI talent. Through the "AI Talent Platform," they plan to provide opportunities for AI talent to be evenly utilized across industries. Collaboration with leaders in each industry will also be strengthened. KT plans to work with Hyundai Heavy Industries Holdings to apply AI technology in actual industrial sites and discover innovative success cases. Hyundai Heavy Industries Holdings will share its know-how and technology for industry application with small, medium, and venture companies to expand Korea's AI convergence capability (AI+X) ecosystem.

One of the ultimate goals of the AI One Team is to enhance AI technological capabilities not only for ICT companies but also for small, startup, and venture companies. They plan to create an open AI ecosystem where small and venture companies can freely participate, share success cases across various industries such as manufacturing, distribution, services, and finance, and develop it into a platform and ecosystem where necessary solutions and talent can be easily found. KT will also establish an alliance secretariat within KT to secure continuous momentum for executing AI One Team collaboration items and expanding the open ecosystem. The alliance secretariat will support close cooperation among participating organizations and the production and dissemination of concrete outcomes.
