[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will conduct an emergency safety inspection on 14 vulnerable facilities within the province until the 31st of next month to prevent safety accidents ahead of the thawing season.

During this inspection, the province will focus on checking for collapses of retaining walls, embankments, slopes, ground subsidence, and structural damage.

The target facilities include ▲Incheon Seo-gu to Gimpo road reinforced earth retaining wall ▲Bucheon A Apartment site retaining wall ▲Anyang Seoksu Sewage Treatment Plant cut slope ▲Seongnam Ibaejero road slope ▲Gwangju B Apartment steep slope, among 14 locations.

The province will organize a joint inspection team led by the Safety Management Office, including the relevant city departments and private experts.

If serious defects requiring repair or reinforcement are found in the facilities, safety measures orders will be notified to the respective management entities.

Han Dae-hee, head of the province's Special Safety Inspection Team, emphasized, "During the spring thawing season, it is important to carefully monitor retaining walls, embankments, and slope collapses around daily life areas, and report any abnormal signs via the Safety Report app or the disaster management departments of the relevant city or county." He added, "For reported facilities, the province and the relevant city or county will conduct direct inspections and manage them until safety measures are completed."
