[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] A man in his 30s who injured a police officer by punching him in the face while intoxicated has been booked by the police.
The Yongsan Police Station in Seoul announced on the 20th that they arrested and booked a man in his 30s, Kang Mo, on charges of obstruction of official duties.
At around 1 a.m. on the 18th, Kang punched Officer A in the face at the Wonhyo Police Substation of the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul. The police had brought Kang, who was found passed out drunk in Munbae-dong, Yongsan-gu, to the substation to ensure his safe return home.
Upon arrival at the substation, Kang caused a disturbance and punched Officer A, who was trying to restrain him, in the face. As a result, Officer A’s glasses were broken, his face was cut, and he required more than ten stitches at the hospital.
The police arrested Kang as a suspect caught in the act and applied for an arrest warrant on the same day, but the court dismissed it. The police plan to transfer Officer A’s case to the prosecution soon.
