[Asia Economy Reporter Junho Hwang] The Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Industrial Technology Association will recruit 290 trainees to participate in the 2020 Science and Engineering Specialized Technical Training (Master's and Doctoral) program starting from the 18th.
This program is a key project of the government's 'Top 10 Human Investment Tasks' aimed at achieving an innovative inclusive nation. It allows unemployed master's and doctoral graduates in science and engineering to carry out industry-related research and development projects for nine months at government-funded (research) institutes and national/public (research) institutes, with the goal of leading to future employment, serving as a talent development initiative.
This year, 290 trainees will be recruited, an increase of 150 from last year, with participation from Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), Korea Institute of Industrial Technology (KITECH), and other top domestic government-funded research institutes.
Applicants can check over 400 research and development projects (including about 300 related to materials, parts, and equipment) available at 18 government-funded and national/public research institutes nationwide on the training program website (SNEJOB.koita.or.kr).
Jung Byung-seon, First Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and ICT, stated, "I hope this training program will serve as a foothold for young researchers to escape the crisis of research interruption and advance into the industrial sector, and also provide companies seeking to hire master's and doctoral research personnel with an opportunity to secure excellent researchers."
