[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province has launched a second investigation on the 17th into Ajou University Hospital, which is under suspicion of obstructing treatment for severe trauma patients and falsifying medical records in relation to the operation of the Southern Gyeonggi Trauma Center. The province had previously conducted an on-site investigation at Ajou University Hospital from the 5th to the 10th.

The province has formed an investigation team led by the Director of the Health and Medical Policy Division, including the Provincial Auditor, the Special Judicial Police for Public Welfare, and the Suwon City Yeongtong-gu Public Health Center, to carry out an additional 10-day on-site investigation until the 28th.

This second investigation is conducted under Article 61 of the Medical Service Act (Reporting and Work Inspection, etc.), and the province will examine the hospital’s accounting, including the execution details of subsidies to Ajou University Hospital. If necessary, statements from related parties will be heard, and if any illegality is confirmed, administrative sanctions and requests for investigation will be taken according to relevant laws and regulations.

Earlier, from the 5th to the 10th, the province conducted an on-site investigation to verify the facts regarding allegations against Ajou University Hospital, including obstruction of treatment for severe trauma patients, refusal of treatment, and falsification of medical records.
