[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Suwon City in Gyeonggi Province is utilizing drones for COVID-19 prevention.
On the 13th, Suwon City announced that it will carry out disinfection activities using drones to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in collaboration with the local social enterprise 'Saramgwa Jayeon Cooperative' and the club 'The Drone' at Suwon Agricultural Life Science High School.
The city will conduct drone disinfection at 49 elementary, middle, and high schools located in Jangan-gu from the 17th to the 28th. The drone disinfection will involve the deployment of a dedicated pesticide drone (Sundori) that automatically sprays disinfectant.
The city expects that using unmanned aerial vehicle drones for disinfection will enable efficient sanitation of school playgrounds, entrances, and main gates.
This disinfection project was realized after the social enterprise Saramgwa Jayeon Cooperative, which provides drone education and disinfection services, expressed to Suwon City on the 10th their desire to volunteer for citizen safety together with students from Suwon Agricultural Life Science High School.
Saramgwa Jayeon Cooperative is providing two pesticide drones, and students from the 'The Drone' club at Suwon Agricultural Life Science High School, who hold drone pilot licenses, will operate the drones.
The Jangan-gu Public Health Center in Suwon has agreed to supply disinfectants and other necessary disinfection materials.
