[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Hyesoo] The episode of 'Itaewon Class' aired on the afternoon of the 8th demonstrated its strong presence by surpassing a 10% viewership rating.
The 4th episode of JTBC's Friday-Saturday drama 'Itaewon Class,' broadcast on the afternoon of the 8th, recorded nationwide and metropolitan area ratings of 9.4% and 10.7%, respectively (based on Nielsen Korea paid households), showing a remarkable upward trend. This set a new personal best rating for the drama.
In this episode, Park Saeroyi (played by Park Seojoon) faces a two-month suspension of the 'Danbam' pub's business as a consequence of choosing his principles over compromise. To Choi Seungkwon (played by Ryu Kyungsoo), the main culprit who blames himself for the incident, Park Saeroyi comforts him by saying that it is all in the past and irreversible, encouraging him to use the two months of closure as an opportunity to make up for what was lacking.
Jo Iseo (played by Kim Dami), who witnessed this situation, became interested in Park Saeroyi and eventually learned that he had a record of attempted murder. Although Jo Iseo had been accepted to all the schools she applied to and got along well with her trendy friends, she was not happy at all. Meeting Park Saeroyi sparked a slightly different kind of interest in her.
After a quarrel at a drinking party, Jo Iseo fled to the men's restroom, where she encountered Park Saeroyi, who helped her. Holding Jo Iseo's hand, Park Saeroyi ran away with her and Osua (played by Kwon Nara), who was waiting for him. The three running through the Itaewon night streets at midnight foreshadowed new relationships to come.
As Park Saeroyi, Jo Iseo, and Osua settled in a cafe, a subtle tension filled the air. While Park Saeroyi briefly stepped away, a tense standoff unfolded between Osua and Jo Iseo. Osua, who confessed her feelings for Park Saeroyi, asked Jo Iseo about her feelings toward him, to which Jo Iseo responded nonchalantly.
Then Jo Iseo asked if Osua was the one who reported the 'Danbam' pub leading to its business suspension, which upset Osua. However, when Park Saeroyi returned, Jo Iseo immediately revealed that she was the one who made the report, causing Jo Iseo to give a puzzled look. Osua, angered by Park Saeroyi's unwavering stance despite being told that Jo Iseo was the reporter, stormed out.
Later, Jo Iseo and Park Saeroyi continued their drinking session. Watching Jo Iseo meticulously point out the problems of the 'Danbam' pub, Park Saeroyi admired her and gently ruffled her hair, making Jo Iseo fall for him once again. Then, looking at the drunken Park Saeroyi collapsed on the floor, Kim Iseo bowed her head and kissed him.
With the line, "I hope this lonely man's night is sweet. I want to make this man's life sweet," Jo Iseo made a big decision. She ran to the front of the 'Danbam' pub and declared to Park Saeroyi that she wanted to work with him.
'Itaewon Class,' which continues to break its highest viewership ratings each episode and is gaining popularity, airs every Friday and Saturday at 10:50 PM on JTBC.
