CES Innovation Award-Winning Home Appliances Sales Soar... Production Line Expansion Coway 'Hanbang Onhyeol Massage Chair' (left) and SK Magic 'Triple Care Dishwasher'.

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daeseop] Sales of innovative products from domestic mid-sized home appliance companies receiving innovation awards at the world's largest electronics exhibition 'CES' are significantly increasing. With sales growth driving revenue up, expansion of production lines is also being considered.

According to industry sources on the 9th, Coway's 'Hanbang Onhyeol Massage Chair,' launched in mid-February last year, surpassed 30 billion KRW in sales within less than a year of its release. This product's advantage lies in its innovation by integrating traditional Hanbang (Korean traditional medicine) and its segmented massage programs, allowing users to receive various massages tailored to their physical condition.

The product's effectiveness was verified through clinical trials at Dongguk University Ilsan Hanbang Hospital, and its innovation in combining massage chairs with Hanbang medicine was recognized with the '2019 CES Innovation Award,' according to the company.

Based on the meridian theory widely used in Hanbang medicine, the product stimulates major acupressure points to help alleviate body pain and improve sleep. To effectively stimulate acupoints, it is equipped with Coway's patented 'Thermal Therapy Tool.' Two thermal therapy balls inside the product move along the user's major acupoints, providing warm and comfortable stimulation similar to moxibustion.

Additionally, it features seven Chuna massage programs using the thermal therapy tool and six general massage programs, allowing users to receive various massages according to their body and condition. A Coway representative stated, "We will continue the sales growth of the Hanbang Onhyeol Massage Chair based on diverse marketing activities."

The company also plans to strengthen its competitiveness in the global market. Recently, the board of directors reappointed Director Lee Haeseon as CEO. They plan to stably operate the environmental home appliance business while leading future-oriented new changes and innovations for sustainable growth.

SK Magic's new product, the 'Triple Care Dishwasher,' which won the '2020 CES Innovation Award,' is also gaining popularity. Since its first unveiling on the 7th of last month, pre-order sales have exceeded 5,000 units within a month.

This product offers total care from dishwashing to drying and storage, featuring wide moving washing blades that clean without blind spots. It is also equipped with a UV (ultraviolet) clean care system and dual hot air drying functions.

To celebrate surpassing 5,000 pre-order sales of the Triple Care Dishwasher, an extended encore sale will be held until the 27th. Special benefits such as the British premium tableware brand 'Denby' dish set and dishwasher-specific detergent will be provided to pre-purchase and rental customers.

An SK Magic representative said, "The Triple Care Dishwasher is experiencing explosive popularity in the market, and currently, supply is insufficient. To repay customer support, we are considering expanding the dishwasher production line and will do our best to maximize factory operations to ensure no disruption in supply."
