[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] As of last year, the number of registered foreigners in Seoul was 285,529. Amid the growing economic impact of foreigners, the autonomous district's specialized English education for real estate brokerage has been ongoing for 10 years, drawing attention.

Yongsan-gu (District Mayor Seongjanghyun) will hold the 19th specialized English education course for real estate brokerage from March to June to improve the practical skills of real estate brokers.

The education will be conducted over 16 weeks every Tuesday from 7 PM to 10 PM for 3 hours (a total of 48 hours). The curriculum consists of real estate English conversation (32 hours) and global consultation brokerage practice (16 hours).

The education venue is the Yongsan Art Hall lecture room. 60 participants will be recruited on a first-come, first-served basis. The tuition fee is 240,000 KRW, and the textbook fee is separate (40,000 KRW). The deadline is until the 2nd of next month.

The lectures will be led by Professor Eric Kim. He has been leading related classes for years as a specialized real estate English instructor. Last year, he also newly authored the textbook "Eric's Global Brokerage Practice Manual."

Students can systematically learn the entire process from consultation, tour, contract, to aftercare through actual cases focusing on vivid practical English used by professional brokers.

It does not stop at one-way knowledge delivery. The lectures are prepared to enable interactive education through ▲ English contract writing practice (3 sessions) ▲ small group English discussions (4 sessions) ▲ role-playing (1 session) ▲ presentations (2 sessions).

Since 2011, the district has trained 580 brokers as foreigner consultation specialists through 18 sessions of specialized English education for real estate brokerage.

A district official said, "The demand for foreigner rentals in the area is continuously increasing," and added, "This education will contribute to improving brokers' work capabilities and providing convenience for foreign residents."

Graduates of the education will receive a certificate of completion along with free consulting for designation as a Seoul City global brokerage office. A global brokerage office refers to a business that has been operating for more than one year and whose representative has passed Seoul City's language assessment in speaking, writing, etc., and received suitability certification.

As of the end of last year, there are 55 global brokerage offices operating in Yongsan. This accounts for 22% of the total 250 global brokerage offices in Seoul.

Seongjanghyun, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, said, "Yongsan-gu provides various services for foreigners," and added, "We will ensure faster and more accurate brokerage through specialized English education for real estate brokerage."
