[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Sung-yeol] Rapper Dok2 has parted ways with his agency Illionaire Records.
On the afternoon of the 6th, Illionaire Records announced on their official Instagram, "Illionaire Records and Dok2 have decided to go their separate ways as of February 6, 2020."
They added, "We sincerely thank the fans who have supported Dok2 all this time, and Illionaire Records wishes Dok2 the best in his future endeavors."
Illionaire Records is a hip-hop company founded in 2011 by rappers Dok2 and The Quiett. Beenzino is signed as an artist, and the company has Ambition Music as a subsidiary, which includes rappers Changmo, Hash Swan, and LIL MARS.
Last November, when Dok2 was embroiled in a controversy over jewelry on credit in the United States, Illionaire Records explained that Dok2 "had settled all shares and his CEO position as of November 2018 and moved to the United States."
Previously, in October last year, Dok2 was sued by a jewelry company for failing to pay for goods. According to the company's claim, Dok2 took jewelry worth 247 million KRW on credit and continuously delayed payment, leaving about 40 million KRW unpaid.
On the 23rd of last month, the Seoul Southern District Court Civil Mediation Division 31 held a mediation session regarding Dok2's unpaid goods payment issue, but the parties failed to reach an agreement.
