[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] The play 'Shall We Go to the Karaoke... and Talk?' will open on the 8th at Seogyeong University Performing Arts Center Scone Hall 1 in Daehak-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul.
'Shall We Go to the Karaoke... and Talk?' depicts stories of youth and family love unfolding in a karaoke room. Various characters who are awkward at communication and experiencing relationship issues appear, presenting five different episodes. The stories of ordinary people existing in our daily lives?such as a father and son, young men and women in their 20s facing a breakup, and middle-aged men and women deciding on remarriage?are brought to the stage to offer laughter and emotion.
The stage features two spaces: a karaoke room and a playground. In each episode, the characters sing songs in the karaoke room that reflect their psychology and emotions, then, after struggling with communication difficulties, they head to the restroom to relieve their frustration. The space referred to as the 'restroom' in the play is actually represented as a 'playground' on stage. Through scenes of riding a seesaw, a cloud bridge, and swings, the characters release their pent-up feelings, conveying the message of the work.
Jin Seon-gyu, Kim Min-jae, and Cha Yong-hak play Min-jae; Yoo Ji-yeon and Jung Yeon play Bo-kyung; Oh Ui-sik and Yoon Seok-hyun play Hee-jun; Park So-jin and Han Soo-rim play Min-jung; Jung Sun-ah and Kim Ha-jin play Eun-hye/Yoo-jeong; Yoo Yeon and Lee Ji-hae play Jung-yeon/Yoo-yeon; and Im Kang-sung and Oh In-ha play the karaoke owner.
