[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Samsung Electronics will significantly improve the battery performance of its upcoming wireless earphone successor, the 'Galaxy Buds Plus,' which will be unveiled on the 11th, and will also add blue and red colors.

On the 5th (local time), IT specialist Twitter user Evan Blass revealed the specifications of the Galaxy Buds+. The price is set at $149, $20 more expensive than the Galaxy Buds. In addition to increased battery capacity, a microphone has been added to improve call quality, and features such as Spotify control and an iOS app are also supported.

The Galaxy Buds+ can be used for up to 22 hours on a single charge. Music playback is possible for up to 11 hours. The existing Galaxy Buds allowed continuous music playback for 6 hours and battery use for up to 13 hours on a single charge, so this is a significant improvement. The earphone battery has a capacity of 85mAh, and the case has a capacity of 270mAh.

With the increase in battery capacity, the weight of the earphones has also increased slightly. The Galaxy Buds weighed 5.6g, but one earbud of the Buds+ weighs 6.3g. The fast charging function has also been improved, allowing 100 minutes of playback with a 15-minute charge. Although the initially expected noise-canceling feature was omitted, the sound quality is improved by equipping dual dynamic drivers. Along with this, the number of microphones installed in the earphones has increased from 2 to 4, which is expected to enhance call quality.

Samsung Electronics is also preparing a dedicated Galaxy Buds+ app for iPhone and iPad users. Through this app, users can check the charging status of the battery case and the battery status of both earbuds. It is also known that a control function for Spotify will be added. Multi-device connection, which allows linking with multiple devices, is also supported. In addition to the existing white and black colors, blue and red colors will be added to the Galaxy Buds+.

IT specialist media SamMobile explained, "The design and specifications are not significantly different from previously released information, but paying an additional $20 allows you to enjoy more upgraded features," adding, "Features include dual driver audio and microphones, multi-device support, and longer battery life, and in some countries, it will be provided free of charge to Galaxy S20+ and S20 Ultra pre-order customers."
