The Value of Togetherness, Let's Read Books Together!

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) is conducting a reading club contest until the 13th to create a culture of reading books throughout the neighborhood.

A reading club refers to a group of people who voluntarily gather to read books together, share opinions, and engage in discussions. Through "reading together," individuals can reflect on themselves and create opportunities to grow within relationships with others.

This contest is recruiting 60 reading clubs consisting of five or more residents. If selected as a reading club, each club can receive support ranging from 200,000 to 400,000 KRW for book purchase expenses, field trip expenses, and other purposes. However, the club must hold at least five meetings from March to October, the project period.

Reading clubs wishing to participate can download the application form and project plan from the "Geumcheon News" section on the Geumcheon-gu Office website, fill them out, and apply via email (sunkyeong87@geumcheon.go.kr).

Based on the submitted project plans, the Geumcheon-gu Local Subsidy Deliberation Committee will review the applications, and the final selected clubs will be announced on March 12 on the Geumcheon-gu Office website.

The district aims to foster "60" reading clubs throughout the neighborhood and plans to support the selected clubs through this contest by linking them with the district's public small libraries to enable more effective operation. Each club can learn about reading culture consulting and effective club management strategies from the small libraries, as well as utilize various book services provided by each library.

Mayor Yu Seong-hoon stated, "In modern society accustomed to multimedia, people who find it difficult to read books alone are expected to discover opportunities to grow themselves and enjoy reading through reading club activities while communicating with others."
