[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province disclosed on the 2nd the movement routes and occurrence status of the 12th and 14th confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (Wuhan pneumonia) in Korea, which occurred in Bucheon.
The 12th confirmed case is a 49-year-old Chinese man who tested positive for the novel coronavirus on the 1st, and his 40-year-old Chinese wife was confirmed as the 14th case on the 2nd.
The 12th confirmed case entered Korea through Gimpo Airport on the 19th of last month after staying in Japan for work (tour guide). After being advised to get tested by a confirmed patient in Japan, he visited a medical institution and was confirmed positive on the 1st. He is currently isolated and hospitalized at Bundang Seoul National University Hospital.
The close contacts, the confirmed patient's wife and daughter (14 years old), were under self-quarantine. The symptomatic wife was confirmed positive on the morning of the 2nd and is undergoing an epidemiological investigation. The daughter shows no similar symptoms but has been tested, and a guardian has been requested.
Mayor Jang Deokcheon of Bucheon held a press conference on the day and stated, "The residence of the 12th confirmed case is a villa near Bucheon Nam Elementary School in Daesan-dong (Simgokbon-dong). Since the confirmation, all places visited by the patient have been disinfected, close contacts have been quarantined, and casual contacts are under active monitoring."
The movement route of the 12th confirmed case within Bucheon was identified as follows: on the 20th of last month at around 7:20 PM, CGV Bucheon Station Branch, 8th floor, Theater 5 (watching Baekdusan, seat numbers E5-6); on the 23rd at 4 PM, Sognaegwa Clinic in Simgokbon-dong; on the 26th at 5:30 PM, CGV Bucheon Station Branch, 8th floor, Theater 4 (watching The Man Standing Next, seat numbers E13-14); on the 28th at 2 PM, Sognaegwa Clinic in Simgokbon-dong; and at 3:50 PM, Seojeon Pharmacy in Simgokbon-dong. These routes were confirmed only within Bucheon city.
According to the Central Disease Control Headquarters of the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the 12th confirmed case visited the Incheon Immigration Office by subway and taxi on the 21st of last month and then visited a friend's house in Michuhol-gu, Incheon.
On the 22nd, he took the subway from Bucheon to Seoul Station and then used the KTX (departing Seoul at 11:01 AM, arriving Gangneung at 12:59 PM) to go to Gangneung. Around 2 PM that day, he visited a restaurant in Gangneung and then took a taxi to his accommodation (Sun Cruise Resort). Around 5 PM, he visited a coffee shop and then a restaurant, returning to the accommodation around 7 PM.
The next day, the 23rd, he departed Gangneung at 12:30 PM, arrived at Seoul Station at 2:27 PM, and then visited Sognaegwa Clinic in Bucheon by subway. On the 24th, he visited relatives' houses in Suwon and Gunpo by subway and bus.
On the 25th, he visited a nearby medical institution (The Healthier Internal Medicine) by taxi from a relative's house in Gunpo for treatment. Afterwards, he stopped by a pharmacy (Hyundai Pharmacy) in Gunpo and returned home by subway. On the 27th, he visited a restaurant in Jung-gu, Seoul by subway and taxi, then returned home by subway.
Meanwhile, the E-Mart Bucheon Branch, which the 14th confirmed case was confirmed to have visited on the 30th of last month, temporarily closed on the afternoon of the 2nd.
The 14th confirmed case was at E-Mart Bucheon Branch from around 4:10 PM to 4:30 PM on the 30th of last month, wearing a mask.
Mayor Jang explained via SNS, "Although no close contacts were identified at E-Mart Bucheon Branch, since many people visit and it is a place of great concern, the store decided to close before the decision of the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. After closing, the store conducted disinfection twice, and Bucheon City plans to disinfect once more tomorrow."
Mayor Jang added, "Bucheon City is taking follow-up measures according to related manuals and concentrating all administrative power to prevent community spread. Please check infection-related information through Bucheon City's official channels."
