First COVID-19 Death in the Philippines... First Outside China

On the 2nd, AP News and others, citing the Philippine health authorities, reported that a patient infected with the novel coronavirus has died for the first time.

This is the first death among infected patients outside of China. The deceased patient was a 44-year-old man from Wuhan, China.

Xinhua News Agency also reported that the first death from the novel coronavirus occurred in the Philippines.
